Principal for a Day Initiative
Guilford Education Alliance hosted the 3rd annual Principal for a Day (PFAD) event on February 25, 2009. Participants from the community spent the morning shadowing principals in a Guilford County School and then PFADs and principals attended a lunch to discuss their experience with others who took part in the event. This is an event that provides an opportunity for corporate and community leaders to get a first-hand look at what Guilford County is doing to improve instruction in our schools as well as to experience what is demanded of principals in their dual roles as managers and instructional leaders. Participants see up close both the strengths of the county's public schools and the challenges they face. Community leaders have the opportunity to become ambassadors for the schools into the larger community.
