Community Reader Days

BofA 2

Bank of America employees recently volunteered to read at Jones Elementary School during Community Reader Day.

GEA, in partnership with Guilford County elementary schools, sponsors Community Reader Days  throughout the year.  Community Reader Days are designed to bring community and business leaders into schools for 20 – 40 minutes to read to an elementary classroom.  It’s a great opportunity for community members to step inside a classroom to get a first-hand glimpse of the work going on in our schools.  More importantly, each time a community volunteer makes time to support the work of  a school it sends a powerful message to GCS students and teachers – Guilford County cares about education.

Volunteering is easy.  Each host school has an onsite coordinator to greet readers, help them choose a book from a selection provided by the media specialist and escort them to the classroom.  Sign up for our next Community Reader Day here.
