Guilford Education Alliance (GEA) is an independent nonprofit that galvanizes the community in support of quality public education for all students. The most important part of our name is Alliance. We are an alliance of people and organizations investing time, talent and resources in support of Guilford County Schools (GCS).

Our Goal

We are relentlessly optimistic about the future of Guilford County. Great communities have great public schools. We are committed to maximizing support for GCS so that all children thrive and are prepared for the future. When it comes to education, we mean business.

What We Do

ENGAGE

Through our Let’s Talk Education speaker series, Education Summit, Community Reader Days, Principal for a Day and other events, we engage community members in programs and events that build a collective, research and experience-based understanding of the complex issues and dynamics that shape public education policy and practice. Relationships between community and schools is crucial to public school success.

ADVOCATE

We advocate for strong investment in Guilford County Schools and on other critical issues that impact GCS educators, students and families. We advocate to and on behalf of the community to build broad-based support for public education.

SUPPORT

The Teacher Supply Warehouse is just one direct way we support GCS teachers and students. Whether it is funding professional development for teachers or offering free classroom supplies, our goal is to make sure GCS teachers have what they need to not only teach children, but to inspire them!

COLLABORATE

We collaborate with people and organizations to connect community resources with the needs of Guilford County Schools students, educators and families. Examples of recent collaborations include the Food Project, Ready for School Ready for Life, Say Yes Guilford, Triad Workforce Solutions Collaborative, Guilford Apprenticeship Partners, and Blue Ribbon Task Force on Career and Technical Education.

  • Council of Great City Schools

    The Guilford County Schools (GCS) is a member of the Council of Great City Schools, a group of 70 largest school districts in the U.S. that serve more than 7.3 million students. This number equates to 20% of public school students in the U.S. Members share research and best practices to help education policy and planning to address critical challenges and opportunities.
